Timex recently did a survey of 1,122 Americans 18 and older asking them about their outdoor participation habits. The study found that most people would love to spend more time outdoors, but often are too tired or over programmed with work and errands to go outside.
Most people stated that they see the value in being outside (i.e. stress relief, feel happier, etc), but other things just get in the way. As crazy as this may seem, it's a reality for most people...including myself. All too often, we let "life" get in the way of enjoying the outdoors.
As summer continues to tick away, I encourage everyone reading this post to turn off your computer and GO OUTSIDE! Life is too short to ignore the simple pleasure of walking in the park, riding your bike or just playing outside with your kids.
I also encourage you to take this information to heart as you market your products and services to outdoor enthusists. It's easy to get off track thinking that your consumer is outside climbing the nearest mountain or hiking the AT, when it fact, many consumers view the "outdoors" as playing in the backyard or going to a local park. Make sure you develop products that match the current reality of outdoor participation.

Agree 100%. Heck, go find a local trail nearby to explore. They're out there ... and probably closer than you think.
