Too Tired
Timex recently did a survey of 1,122 Americans 18 and older asking them about their outdoor participation habits. The study found that most people would love to spend more time outdoors, but often are too tired or over programmed with work and errands to go outside.
Most people stated that they see the value in being outside (i.e. stress relief, feel happier, etc), but other things just get in the way. As crazy as this may seem, it's a reality for most people...including myself. All too often, we let "life" get in the way of enjoying the outdoors.
As summer continues to tick away, I encourage everyone reading this post to turn off your computer and GO OUTSIDE! Life is too short to ignore the simple pleasure of walking in the park, riding your bike or just playing outside with your kids.
I also encourage you to take this information to heart as you market your products and services to outdoor enthusists. It's easy to get off track thinking that your consumer is outside climbing the nearest mountain or hiking the AT, when it fact, many consumers view the "outdoors" as playing in the backyard or going to a local park. Make sure you develop products that match the current reality of outdoor participation.

New Home for Ice Age Trail Alliance
The Ice Age Trail Alliance (IATA) "officially" opened the doors to its new office on Saturday, July 18th with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. Similar to the Appalachian Trail's main office in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, the IATA's main office is now directly located on the route of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
As a corporate friend of the IATA, all of us at Celtic are thrilled. If you're ever near Cross Plains, Wisconsin, be sure to stop by and check out their new digs (2110 Main Street - Cross Plains, WI)
Better yet, next time you're in Wisconsin, be sure to get out and take a hike on the Ice Age Trail itself. The trail's route winds more than a thousand miles, and is one of only 11 National Scenic Trails in the country.

Spent the day at Open Air Demo promoting Coleman's new line of insect repellents and sunscreens. It was a gorgeous day at Pineview Reservoir in Odgen, Utah. The place was packed with people demoing kayaks, trail running shoes, sunglasses and more.

Green Sidewalks
I was reading Adweek online this afternoon and came across an interesting story about a company called GreenGraffiti. They use a high pressure water hose and stencil to blast brand messaging into dirty sidewalks. Pretty clever. Domino's pizza is using the company to promote its American Legends pizza on sidewalks in L.A. Always cool to see new out-of-home advertising ideas.
