Long known as home of the world's worst weather, New Hampshire's 6288 foot Mount Washington had its 1934 wind gust record of 231 mph broken - according to the World Meterological Organization. A few of us here at Celtic have had the pleasure of hiking Mt. Washington, and parts of the White Mountain Range on a few occassions - for good reason, the area takes great pride in the longstanding record. And weather aside, it's an absolute beautiful area.
All the same, the folks at the Mount Washington Observatory do outstanding work. Mount Washington's bitter cold, freezing fog, heavy snow and legendary wind due to multiple jet streams that cross the range, make its reputation as the world's worst weather no myth.
